I’m Jim Brown, a retired chemical engineer who did most of my work in the environmental field. Playing with personal computers has been a hobby since 1977. Most of my user experience with computers was in the corporate world with Microsoft products. After I retired, I volunteered at the McGrath Computer Learning Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken, to help other improve their use of Windows computers.
In 2017, I bought my first Mac and am having fun learning how to use it after 30 years using Windows.
When I started this blog, I intended to use it mainly to talk about using plain text to get things done on the computer. Hence the title of the blog. I have since expanded it to include articles I’ve written about using both Windows and Mac computers.
I’ve had my own web page since 1997.
